FIRST FATHOM, WEXFORD.
First Fathom (Catch 21 Trá) was curated by Andi Mc Garry in Wexford, Ireland. The open call asked artists to reflect on their concerns about the sea and the coastal environment.
When my proposal was accepted, I created a boat on fabric.
Wexford Arts Office funded the initiative.

Video still shows my piece at First Fathom (2021).
I sewed by hand, using textiles that were destined for landfill. Embroidery and found objects added more texture and colour.
One year later, funding was secured for Catch 22 Trá. My work was selected for inclusion.

CATCH 22 TRÁ
Works from 14 artists were shown in South Wexford. The project featured sculpture, painting, textiles, photography, and collage in 22 beach galleries.
I used a pillowcase and old trousers to make my piece. A lot of embroidery was added, and again I sewed everything by hand.
