Windows and Wells: Open Writing Call – Submit by February 12th, 2026.

Graphic design shows a window view of fields and a path, plus a well.

Windows and Wells is an open call for writing in English from any country.

Is the well a sacred source of water to you? Do you associate it with making a wish?

How about windows? What do you see (or not)?

My photo of a window at Kilmallock priory ruins, Co. Limerick, Ireland.

How your writing will be shared

Each piece of writing will be displayed as a stand-alone piece online. Selected works will have one full page of display space per writer.

Every project that I produce takes a lot of time, skills, and energy. Late entries are never included, so don’t leave it until the last minute to take part.

Interpret one or more of the prompts as you please. Alternatively, you may use any of the photos shown on this page as a visual prompt.

The editor’s decision is final. Writing considered excessively dark or disturbing will not be included.
